Value-added services are now a part of three Aflac Group insurance plans.

Health Advocacy, Medical Bill Saver and TeleMedicine services are now included in all Aflac Group accident, hospital indemnity and critical illness plans
to bring even more value to your company and your employees.

All three services:
  • Added automatically with no increase in premiums.
  • Accessible on the first day of coverage.
  • Added to in-force group accident, hospital indemnity and critical illness plans automatically.

Who's eligible?
All existing and new certificate holders with Group Critical Illness, Group Hospital Indemnity and Group Accident plans.

Health Advocacy and Medical Bill Saver are available to employees, their spouses and children, parents and parents-in-law.

Telemedicine is available to employees, their spouses and children.

Health Advocacy


Health advocacy from Health Advocate
Health Advocate provides insured employees, their spouses and children, parents and parents-in-law with unlimited, confidential access to a
Personal Health Advocate who can help resolve a wide variety of health and insurance related issues.

How does it work?
  • Call 855-423-8585 toll-free
  • Insured is assigned a Personal Health Advocate.
  • Unlimited access to Personal Health Advocates for healthcare and insurance-related issues.
  • Same Personal Health Advocate works with the insured until the issue is resolved; is available for follow-up. 
  • Personal Health Advocate interacts with health plans on behalf of employees.

What is a Personal Health Advocate?
  • Registered nurses with 10+ years’ experience in clinical care, case management, nursing education, supervision and administration.
  • Benefits experts more than five years experience in benefits administration, claims management and provider group administration.
  • Supported by full-time Medical Directors for every clinical case.
  • Trained clinical professionals – social workers, behavior change counselors, nutritionist, dieticians, dental care and pharmacy management.
  • Single, ongoing contact person – direct dial phone number, email, text, cellphone.
  • Chosen for medical expertise, commitment to service excellence, communication skills and strong problem resolution approach.

What does Advocacy do?
  • Find qualified doctors, dentists, hospitals and other healthcare providers, nationwide.
  • Expedite appointments, including those with hard-to-reach specialists; arrange for specialized treatments and tests.
  • Untangle claims, negotiate billing and payment arrangements, uncover billing errors.
  • Locate eldercare services, such as finding adult day care, assisted living and other related issues facing parents, parents-in-law.
  • Navigate insurance plan to obtain appropriate approvals for needed services.
  • Explain conditions, answer questions about tests, treatments and medications to help you make informed decisions.
  • Assist with the transfer of medical records, X-rays and lab results.

Medical Bill Saver


Through Medical Bill Saver, employees have access to Health Advocate’s Specialized
Negotiation Unit (“SNU”) who can review medical bills and attempt to reduce outstanding balances. On average, SNUs can save members 40% on medical and dental bills.

What is it?
  • Uses fee bench-marking databases and critical pricing trend information.
  • Secures, written provider sign-off on negotiated terms.
  • Provides a Result Statement which gives a summary of each negotiation outcome.

Telemedicine


TeleMedicine from MeMD
Powered by MeMD, members can connect with a medical provider online and receive personalized treatment. When medically appropriate, MeMD providers submit an eprescription to a local pharmacy for purchase, pickup and review (in-person) with local pharmacist.

What does it do?
  • Telemedicine saves money – the average insured with an HDHP pays about $105 for a primary care visit. A telemedicine visit is $35.
  • Telemedicine saves time – wait times are minimal for telemedicine with providers engaging with insureds in less than 10 minutes.
  • Insureds also don’t need to worry about making a car trip to the doctor, with a provider available from anywhere.
